Elopements are on the rise thanks to COVID19. If you planned to get married in 2020 in the Pittsburgh or Ohio Valley region there is a chance that your plans will be changing. This sucks. I know. You did all the things to plan this huge event and now its being taken away. As many are rescheduling for 2021 maybe whats best for you is to elope.
If a big wedding is all you can imagine having then this may not be for you. Here are all the reasons I’m excited for this shift in how people get married. We can get through this no matter what you decide to do.
Imagine a meaningful wedding day filled with lots of special moments that don’t feel expected or staged. You can do what makes you happiest! Morning snuggles followed with pancakes and coffee together before you get ready. A small or private ceremony. Romantic dinner alone or with family and friends.
By eliminating all the expectations and traditions of a wedding day you are able to focus all of your energy into each other and nothing else.
I love a good party and I’m sure you do too.. but you have an opportunity to have a unique experience filled with romance and memories shared with only the ones closest to you. Less chance of a hangover the next day lol.
Surround yourself with those you love the most. Best friends, family and maybe even pets! Imagine a candlelit dinner with everyone you love at one table. Sharing stories, and speeches celebrating you two. Put your song on and slow dance. Share memorable moments that don’t have to be rehearsed or staged or scheduled. No strict timeline. Lots of hugs, laughs, and tears.

Find something from the day you could do every year to celebrate and this can apply to regular weddings but the possibilities are endless. Remember its all about making it as special as you can.
Look for inspiration. Pinterest has so many ideas for elopements or intimate weddings. They also have lots of planning resources like blogs and checklists.
Talk to your significant other and family.
Keep your photographer booked. I still want to document the day for you. This can include details and you two getting ready. (Imagine the beautiful images you could get if you dressed each other) your ceremony, portraits, and dinner and dances.
Contact all of your vendors to see how they are handling elopements or small intimate ceremonies.
